Our Pavilion

The Mexico Pavilion is a large kite forest that is located in the heart of the Shanghai 2010 Expo. The papalotl—which is butterfly in Nahuatl language—represents flight and a joyous spirit and brings together the Mexican and Chinese cultures.

Its message is the need to look towards the future to explore spaces that allow individuals to relax, recover parks and green areas, where new generations can have a better life. The area has natural grass that reflects how Mexicans are concerned with the environment in our cities.

Inside, the Pavilion will be divided into the following:

An exhibit area that will include three spaces representing moments in the life of our country. The past in the basement, the present at the entry level and the future in the platform.

A Business Center that will host trade missions, business meetings between Asian and Mexican companies and activities to promote Mexico’s advantages as investment destination.

A Tourism Promotion Stand, with a 62 m2 area, that will promote Mexico’s most attractive tourist areas.

A store that will occupy 166 m2, featuring Mexican items, crafts from different areas and fashion items created by young Mexican designers.

The Restaurant: a delicious space showcasing the vitality of our gastronomic wealth. Visitors will travel to Mexico while enjoying traditional Mexican cuisine. We are expecting 1,000 visitors daily to the restaurant, which will occupy a 300 m2 area.

The content will show Mexico’s beauty and attributes, present creativity and technology and the collections exhibited will offer experiences for visitors to feel and remember.

The Mexico Pavilion’s goals are to promote our history, biodiversity and cultural wealth, and to show a leading country that works to promote balance between cities and nature.

The Mexico Pavilion will stand out for its colors and it will emphasize our festive spirit and our pride to be Mexican. Mexico will be represented by a space that shares and receives experiences, teaches and learns, proposes and listens. Mexico and its pavilion are open to the world and to the idea that everyone, everywhere, can have a better life.
